Consider Joining the Parish Council – June 7/8

Selection of Parish Council Members

On Pentecost weekend, June 7/8, the parish will select new members to the parish council. I want to invite every adult member of the parish to consider being a nominee.

The main quality that a candidate must have is a genuine desire to help the parish do even better at fulfilling its mission. In terms of a time commitment it is not too demanding. You will need to make the commitment to attend the monthly meetings (we do not meet in the summer), make a few phone calls each month in order to get input/ feedback from the parishioners and approximately twice a year coordinate the coffee and donuts fellowship on Sunday.

The selection will take place by putting all the names of all the nominees/candidates in a container at two of the Masses on Pentecost weekend, I will pull a name and that person will serve on our council. The term of office will be for three years.

What is great about this system is that everyone in the parish has an equal opportunity to serve on the parish council. All I need is to hear from you saying you are willing to serve. Please call me at the rectory or tell me when you see me at Mass or at a meeting. I am looking forward to hearing from you and possibly serving with you on parish council. I will need to hear from you by Wednesday, June 4th.

Thanks for considering this important matter.

Dear Fellow Our Lady of Refuge Parishioners,

I’m pleased to share the good news with you that the accomplishments of our successful Changing Lives Together Campaign under Father McEnhill’s leadership have been recognized and featured in “The Michigan Catholic“!

Here is a link to the article that was published today:

I’m sure you join me in the pride and sense of accomplishment we all feel for the results that have been achieved, are still to be achieved, and for this recognition from the Archdiocese of Detroit.

And to Father McEnhill, Phillip Mansour and Michael Blanek, the c0-chairs of the effort, and to all those who participated in the process and, most importantly all of the contributors . . . Thank you and may God continue to bless you, your families and our parish.
