The West Bloomfield area on May 18th experienced some incredible weather for the Knights of Columbus 1st Annual golf outing at Bay Pointe Golf Club; High 80s and windy. It was awesome! The day started with a flurry of activity to prepare; Our Lady of Refuge parishioners Bob and Johanna Harper, Deborah LeBlanc, Jon Kellner, Tom Durkee, Chrissy Devine, Linda Godell, Michelle and Paul Schmidt, Tom Ruedisueli and Jan Mittelstaedt came to support the outing through registration, hole events, auction, or whatever needed to be done. We are grateful and blessed to be associated with such caring and giving people. Dan Schneble as you recall was the master of the event and led the congregation of golfers with a very inspiring prayer and at 10am, 90 golfers were off to the tee boxes. Fr. McEnhill, our pastor, sponsored a hole along with the following Our Lady of Refugee parishioners: Buzzy and Jan Holzer, also the title sponsor of the event, Phil Mansour of Temple Construction, Our Lady of Refuge Men of the Sacred Heart group, Attorney F. Patrick Devine, Scott Simpson of Vector Associates, Gino Santia of Gino’s and Rick Bartus of Century 21. Following the golf, many participated in the Chinese auction.
Dan Schneble acknowledged the many supporters and contributors to the event and Greg Harris led grace before dinner. Parishioners Mike and Lisa Blanek, Scott Simpson, and Doug Troczak joined the golfers for dinner. They were not disappointed. The gourmet buffet food prepared by the Bay Pointe staff was outstanding. Following dinner, Dan and Greg made some final remarks regarding the day and raffled off the remaining items. The raffle ticket printer produced some odd numbers or missed printing some which added to an interesting conclusion to the raffle and pick up of Chinese raffle items.
The Knights would like to thank everyone who played, participated, supported, sponsored or donated. We raised $4,600 fun for all. Hope to see everyone next year!
