Anniversary Comments from Fr. McEnhill

Fr. McEnhillOutstanding!! What a wonderful celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the founding of Our Lady of Refuge Parish. The whole weekend was a tremendous acknowledgement of the history of our parish and what it has become as the parish has responded to the many blessings that God has bestowed on it over the years.

The 75th Anniversary Committee must be complimented as they very diligently planned for this event over the last nineteen months. They will be very quick to say that many people offered their time, energy, talents and donated food to this effort. What was so noticeable was how everything was so coordinated as all the planning and volunteerism came together.

Our Saturday evening was highlighted by our school children putting on a play telling the history of our parish, our adult choir providing a musical presentation before Mass and enhancing the Mass with music, Archbishop Vigneron presiding over our beautiful Anniversary Mass and then the gala anniversary celebration in our graciously decorated Mitchell Family Life Center with the time line of our parish history, a video history and no end to the delicious food and beverages that we all enjoyed as we spent time together in celebration.

The joy of the weekend continued on Sunday with an outstanding violin and piano recital that featured musical selections that related to the homelands of Pope St. John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis. This was all topped off with an afterglow reception in our social hall that highlighted the favorite foods of these three popes.

Truly a wonderful way to honor Our Lady of Refuge Parish on its anniversary. I certainly want to thank everyone who made it happen as well as everyone who came to rejoice as a parish. Your presence enhanced our celebration. What a tremendous weekend! We have been blessed. I hope to share with you in the near future some pictures of the event.
