Deacon Piotr Kmiecik has been serving as a Deacon at our parish since September of 2013. During this time he has been studying to become a priest at SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake. With his studies completed, he will be graduating with a Master of Divinity on May3, 2013. He will then be traveling south to begin his first assignment as a priest in the Diocese of Biloxi, Mississippi. This past weekend he participated in his last masses at Our Lady of Refuge Parish.
Before leaving, Pitor shared this parting message with us:
My dear friends in Jesus Christ, it is hard to believe that it is already time for me to say goodbye. I am so grateful for everything you have done for me during my time here. I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to serve as a Deacon in your parish for my Deacon’s assignment. It is impossible for me to put into words the depth of my gratitude for you.
I express my sincere gratitude to the pastor of this parish, Rev. Fr. Gerald McEnhill, for his care, good sense of humor, open heart, and acceptance of me for my deacon’s assignment. Thank you for your faith and dedication to Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church. During these past few months, you have given me hope for the future, and you renewed my commitment to ser- vice and my commitment to live out the vocation which Our Dear Lord has given to me. The experience I have received here helped me to appreciate the meaning of the psalm, “You are a priest forever, in the line of Melchizedek”.
From my last canonical retreat before my Ordination to the Priesthood, I remember how important it is to be humble, so I want to acknowledge all of you, my dear brothers and sisters, for enriching me. You have made me feel at home here in this parish, and you were so good to me. If I hurt anyone in any way, please forgive me. Thank you all for your many prayers for me and my intentions. Thank you for the time you took in getting to know me better by speaking with me after Mass. I also appreciate the time you took in completing the evaluations of my homilies.
Please do not forget to pray for me, because your faith is precious and beautiful. Thank you very much for everything, and may God bless you and protect you.
