Hope Warming Center – Thank you!
Saturday May 6th, Our Lady of Refuge provided Dinner and a bagged lunch for the guests of the Baldwin Warming Center. A big shout of thanks goes out to all who helped us prepare and serve food for 80 guests. We would like to send our first big thank you to Paula Dawson of Christian Services here at Our Lady of Refuge who helped us secure the date, menu, kitchens, and volunteers. This was our first attempt at coordinating this event and we couldn’t have done it without her!
Next we thank Father McEnhill for stopping by during preparation and giving us blessings and kind words as we embarked on the adventure. The food prep crew started around 4:30 and what a crew it was. Vince Ottoboni and Mike MacLean prepared the chicken, while Debbie and Bob Defrenza, Regina Lee, John May and Britta Ottoboni made sandwiches, scooped, wiped, packaged and measured the other foods for dinner and lunch. We left OLR around 7:00 and headed to the Baldwin Warming Center.
There we were met by Maureen Dinverno and Cathy Goeckel who helped Regina, Vince and Britta serve the guests. No one went hungry and there were lots of smiles and kind words from the guests to the OLR volunteers.
It is truly a wonderful feeling to help those in need. OLR is blessed with wonderful and giving parishioners who came together to help those who could use a meal and a smile.
Thank you for allowing us to coordinate this event this year.
Vince and Britta Ottoboni
OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN IN THE ARMED SERVICES
“Dear Lord Jesus and Mary, Mother of God, hold all these brave souls in the palm of your hand; comfort them and their families. Send angels of protection, love and comfort to all the service men and women still at war, bring them home safely and comfort their families. We ask this through Christ Our Lord, Amen.”
