End of life decisions presentation
On Wednesday October 25th Kathleen Gaffney RN; BSN; MNM; PNP will give a presentation on End of Life decisions. The discussion will focus on natural death and the dying process, pain management and comfort, selecting a patient advocate, advance directive for health care, preparing guidelines for health care to name a few. Kathleen will guide us through this process and answer any questions. Please join us at 7pm in the social hall to make sure your wishes are known.
Harvest Wagon October 21st-November 5th
This weekend we begin our Turkey “Harvest Wagon”. What is the TURKEY HARVEST WAGON? The purpose of our “Turkey” Harvest Wagon is to collect money for Christian Service to purchase turkeys and items needed to fill our Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets, for the less fortunate. Please consider taking an envelope and making a donation of $10.00 or more. You may drop your envelope in the large slotted pumpkin or place it in the collection basket. Checks may be made payable to Our Lady of Refuge Christian Service. Thank you so much, your donations are greatly appreciated.
CROSSROADS SOUP KITCHEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
It’s that time again – Our Lady of Refuge will once again be the host at Crossroads Soup Kitchen in Detroit on Sunday November 12th. We are looking for 30 volunteers that will assist in either preparing a meal (morning shift) from 8am – 12pm, for 800 homeless people or serving the meal (afternoon shift) from 12pm – 3pm. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. We will meet in the Social Hall and carpool to the shelter in Detroit. This is a great experience for families! If you are unable to volunteer and would still like to help out, donations for the food purchase are always appreciated. For more information and to volunteer call Cindy at 248 515-7171. Mercy In Action – Thank you!
Thank you to those of you who were so generous and helped provide frozen meals to a very needy family in our area. Our SVDP have helped this family and we are trying to help them get back on their feet. I also want to thank you Gary Fiscus who delivered all the donations and is coordinating a day to help this family with fall clean-up.
