Knights of Columbus – Statue of Our Lady of Fatima

Thank you Knights of Columbus!

Our Knights of Columbus were responsible for providing the airplane ticket for the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima. They also led our procession to and from the Grotto. They even covered some of the wee hours during Adoration. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We also want to thank our Knights for protecting the unborn and helping with the petition to end dismemberment abortions. We are truly blessed here at Our Lady of Refuge by our Knights of Columbus.

Jesus Invitation to “Come Follow Me”

We would like to introduce Our Lady of Refuge’s seminarian at Sacred Heart Major Seminary; Dan Whalen.

Dan is the son of Dan & Leeann Whalen; and is the youngest of 4. His family joined Our Lady of Refuge in 1991 when his parents relocated from Phoenix, AZ. He attended Our Lady of Refuge School from K-8 and St. Mary’s Preparatory. Several colleges were explored, however, after a discernment weekend at SHMS, his mind was made up. Daniel entered the seminary in the fall of 2018, and currently has started his 2 n year.

Dan has been active in the parish; you may have seen him altar serving. This aided his transition to SHMS where as a 1 year he was made Master of Ceremony. He frequently volunteers to serve at the Cathedral and special Masses. Please pray for him as he continues his journey.

September 17, 2019

Good morning to all at Our Lady of Refuge Parish, My name is Dan Whalen and I am a seminarian at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. I am contacting you to request your help in an extremely important ministry we have here at Sacred Heart – our Halloween celebration. Each Halloween we open our doors and our hearts to our neighbors, inviting them in for a night of fun, games and trick-or-treating as we continue to Unleash the Gospel within the Heart of the City. Every year we have over 2000 people attend!

We first ask for your continued prayers that this ministry will be a big success as it has such a big impact on the neighborhood. We are asking that you consider taking up a donation of Halloween candy that we then will pass out to the children in the neighborhood. I know that this is a very busy time in the school year, and you may have many other things vying for your attention. I simply ask that you consider helping us bring joy to the hearts of our wonderful neighbors. Please deliver your candy donations to the narthex of the Church on the weekend of October 19th/20th.

This Halloween celebration generates many smiling faces and the joy of praying with many families in attendance. Thank you for your generosity in considering helping with our Halloween ministry. Keep us in your prayers as we carry out this ministry.

God Bless,
Dan Whalen
