Changing Lives Together

Dear Friend in Christ,

I am excited to introduce the Changing Lives Together Campaign (CLT). CLT is all about Our Lady of Refuge and the Church of Detroit working together in to truly change lives for the better in Southeast Michigan. Changing Lives Together is an effort to invigorate and strengthen each and every parish in the Archdiocese.

Learn more about this important initiative on our dedicated page Changing Lives Together.

Yours in Christ,
Fr. McEnhill

New School Website Launches July 4th

Please visit the new Our Lady of Refuge School website!:

We are excited to announce the launch of the new school website on July 4, 2011.

The goals of the website are:

  • Share school information in a helpful and easy to access format
  • Facilitate communications between the school, the parish, parents and other stakeholders
  • Help to market the school to current and prospective parents and students
  • Represent the school in a positive manner to all website visitors

Over the next several weeks, we will be adding content to the new website.  We plan to have the website fully in place by the time school starts in late August.

Please direct and comments and/or suggestions to Scott Simpson

Sing Praise In Appreciation – Our Lady of Refuge Adult Choir

These talented and giving people have led us in prayer at the 9:30am Mass all year long, including special events in the parish as well. We thank them and want them to know we appreciate the gift of themselves that they have shared with all of us.

New School Principal – Mr. Robert Pyles

This is Fr. McEnhill, announcing the new principal of Our Lady of Refuge School. He is Robert Pyles. He is well known in our community, having spent most of his career as an administrator in the West Bloomfield School District. Mr. Pyles has been the principal at Scotch Elementary, Abbott Middle School and West Bloomfield High School. Our search committee noticed excellent leadership skills and he clearly knows educational and instructional methods. Mr. Pyles is a practicing Catholic and he looks forward to a new school experience in a Catholic school that allows him to be involved in the spiritual growth of our children.

I want to invite you to a “Welcome the New Principal” gathering on Tuesday, July 5th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This day was very appropriately chosen because it is the feast day of Our Lady of Refuge. We will begin with prayer at our Marian Garden, near the church, and then have a barbecue and a joyous setting to welcome Mr. Pyles. (If inclement weather, we will meet in the church social hall.)

I am very excited about our new principal and I know you will be also. We will get behind him and give him our support. I ask you to encourage other parents to register their children in our school. Mr. Pyles has an excellent reputation, as he is one of the best principals in all of Oakland County. We are truly blessed to have him. I am very grateful.
