Ultrasound Initiative for Another Way Pregnancy Center

Council 600 teamed up with other councils to fund an ultrasound machine for Another Way Pregnancy Center.

Greg Harris and Oscar Mittelstaedt coordinated the effort of collecting funds and applying for matching funds from KofC Supreme organization to provide a new ultrasound machine to Another Way Pregnancy Center. We worked with Karen Jewell of AWPC and the Michigan State Culture of Life Director, Tim Donovan to define the need and request guidance. Livingston County Ultrasound Initiative and Knights of Columbus Councils St. Benedict 13485, St. Joseph in South Lyon 7586, Our Lady of Victory 14427, Holy Spirit 8500, St. Patrick 13319, and St. Williams 4064 joined the initiative and made contributions to achieve a goal of $23,250.

A demonstration of the ultrasound machine was provided on June 21 by Tom Baker of Samsung with Oscar Mittelstaedt present from council #600. The funds were all collected through the year and dispersed to AWPC along with a matching check from Supreme.

On Nov. 14, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held with officers from State, Local, and contributing councils. Pat and Christine Devine, Greg and Meghan Harris, and Oscar Mittelstaedt were present for the ceremony with Fr. Jason Brooks leading our prayers. The ribbon cutting made the state council news and the following link to the article written about it that was sent out to all Grand Knights in the State of Michigan:
