Yes it will soon be that time again. These are the last of the Christmas Giving Tree recipients from last weekend’s bulletin. Next weekend the Giving Tree will be up in the Narthex. Please remember to check the date of return for your gift, (some organizations need them early) Thank you all for your continued support of Christian Service and what we try to do to help those in need in our community.

The primary service of the Warming Center is the invitation to a safer place for rest and reflection on weekday mornings and some holidays from September – May. St. Vincent de Paul– Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads men and women to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of it’s founder, Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

SVDP Justice Initiative – Serves as the Archdiocese of Detroit prison ministry. This ministry serves newly released men and women coming from federal, state and local correctional facilities with basic human needs such as clothing, hygiene items, winter coats and shoes. Like any other St. Vincent de Paul Conference they rely solely on donations.

It’s that time again – Our Lady of Refuge will once again be the host at Crossroads Soup Kitchen in Detroit on Sunday December 1st. We are looking for volunteers that will assist in preparing the meal (morning shift) from 8 am – 12 pm, for 800 homeless. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. We will meet in the Social Hall and carpool to the shelter in Detroit. This is a great experience for families! If you are unable to volunteer and would still like to help out, donations for the food purchase are always appreciated. For more information and to volunteer call Cindy at 248 515-7171.

Thanksgiving “Harvest Wagon” Thank You!

Thanksgiving blessings and many thank yous to all who so generously donated to our Turkey Harvest Wagon. This year we collected $1.084.00 to help purchase the turkeys, pies and items needed to fill for our Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets. At this time we have 12 families requesting help with a food basket, and your generosity allows us to be able to provide that meal for them, so thank you. We are so blessed to have such generous, compassionate parishioners!

“Dear Lord Jesus and Mary, Mother of God, hold all these brave souls in the palm of your hand; comfort them and their families. Send angels of protection, love and comfort to all the service men and women still at war, bring them home safely and comfort their families. We ask this through Christ Our Lord, Amen.”
