Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive a HUGE Success!
On Saturday March 23rd and Sunday March 24th, A.X.M. Sharpe KofC Council #600 conducted a tootsie roll drive at Kroger on the corner of Union Lake Road and Commerce Road. The funds collected support “Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities”. Donations will go to ‘St. Francis on the Lake’ (by Grass Lake, Michigan) which serves a summer weekend camp for children and adults with Developmental Disabilities. If you want to learn more about St. Francis on the lake visit: www.saintfranciscamp.org. Over the two days of the drive, we raised $2800 to support the recipients of the summer camp.
A huge thanks to Carl Godell for coordinating of this event and Francis Patrick Devine for ordering the boxes of Tootsie Rolls for the drive. Two knights that joined our council within two months ago, Jim Schafer and Jason Fry, provided their services to the drive. Thank you men! Our more seasoned knights, Tom Durkee, Oscar Mittelstaedt, Brad LeBlanc, Nick Greiwe, Dan Schneble, Tom Maier, Jack Harris, Greg Harris, Paul Schmidt, and John May pounded the entry way pavements of Kroger over the two days. Tom Durkee was our lead collector spending over 8 hours. Way to go Tommy Gun!
Thank You Knights of Columbus!
Our Knights have recently provided us with two yummy feasts – Pancake Breakfast and Corn Beef and Cabbage! Hope many of you enjoyed their hospitality. Your participation and the generosity of our Knights will provide $500.00 toward filling our Christian Service Easter Baskets. They have even offered to do much of the shopping. Thank you!!
They also serenaded Eleanor Miller in celebration of her 90 th Birthday and built the delicious pancake cake garnished with fruit as pictured. Outstanding!!
