Oct. 6 | Mass of Thanksgiving for the Sanctity of Human Life
In October, the Catholic Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month, and the first Sunday of October is designated as Respect Life Sunday. This year, all are invited to join Archbishop Vigneron in giving thanks for the gift of life during Holy Mass for the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time, on Oct. 6 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit.
Oct. 16 | 31st Annual Mass for Commerce
In our ever-changing world, the principles of stewardship, service, and leadership are timeless. Join the southeast Michigan business and professional community in celebrating the Eucharist in thanksgiving for God's gifts of love and grace. Mass is on Oct. 16 at 8 a.m. at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit.
Oct. 19 | Celebration of Saint John Paul II: Beauty and Evangelization
Reflect on how the sacred architecture of St. Florian Church draws us closer to Christ in the Eucharist. Calling on the theology of Saint Pope John Paul II, the Polish heritage of the St. Florian parish community, and the beauty of the sacred space, we will share an afternoon of reflection, music, prayer, and the celebration of the Holy Mass. Join us on Oct. 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Florian Church in Hamtramck.

Sacred Heart Major Seminary – Halloween Candy Collection
It’s that time of the year again! Halloween is just around the corner, and Sacred Heart Major Seminary needs your help. Each year the seminary community opens their doors and their hearts to over 2,000 children from the surrounding Detroit neighborhood so that the kids can have a fun and safe place to play games and trick-or-treat. They need your help to make this year a success! They are asking for donations of Halloween candy that will then be passed out to the many kids.
Please bring your bags of individually wrapped candy to the Parish Office or Gathering Space by Sunday, October 28th. Thank you for your generosity and support in making this event a success!

Faith Formation - Youth
This year, we are using the Blest Are We faith formation program in order to align the school and the parish more closely. Please register your children for after-school faith formation classes using the forms below. Paper copies of the forms will be available in the narthex for weekend masses in August. These classes are intended for Catholic children who do not attend the parish school but are open to all families.
Classes will be held on Monday evenings starting in September. Please mail your registration to the Parish Office “Attention Religious Ed” to: 3725 Erie Drive Orchard Lake, MI 48324
Please send a check payable to: “Our Lady of Refuge” with your registration or pay through the online giving link at the top of the page; make sure you label your payment for the religious education classes.
2024-25 RELIGIOUS ED CLASSES REGISTRATION FORM
Sacramental Prep classes for First Reconciliation and First Communion use Together in Jesus instead of Blest Are We (2nd grade). These classes will also be on Monday evenings beginning in September. If your children are eligible for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion this year (they must have a prior year of Faith Formation) and would like them to receive the sacraments in the spring, please complete the Sacrament Registration form below. Mail the form and the program fee to the Parish Office.Confirmation classes are a two-year program, typically for 7th grade and 8th grade students. Older students who have not been confirmed are welcome; younger students will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please complete the form for each year of the program and mail it along with the program fee to the Parish Office.

Faith Formation - Adult
Adults inquirers who are seeking more information about joining the Catholic Church should follow the OCIA link.
Adults who are already Catholic and seeking to grow their faith should use the parish login to the FORMED online platform. Adults studies may be offered in the fall based on shared interest. Contact the Tony Kreucher at [email protected] for suggestions if you are not sure where to begin or would like to lead a study.
Sometimes, the best way to learn more about something is to teach it! The parish is seeking volunteer catechists to help instruct children in the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith. Please prayerfully consider donating your time and talent to this ministry. You may be surprised at how much you learn from the children.
