Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

Adults who are already Catholic and seeking to grow their faith should use the parish login to the FORMED online platform. Adults studies may be offered in the fall based on shared interest. Contact the DRE for suggestions if you are not sure where to begin or would like to lead a study.

There will be a women’s’ Bible study and book club on the Book of Ruth starting soon.

Not everyone who seeks to join the Catholic faith has the support of their family and friends. If you are at least 16 years old and have made your Confirmation, please consider volunteering as a sponsor for OCIA candidates and catechumens.

Sometimes referred to as Becoming Catholic and widely known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or Rite of Christian Initiation of Children, the word rite specifically refers to the several ceremonies that are part of the process.

Our Lady of Refuge offers a journey of discovery of the Catholic faith as a self-paced, year-round program. We want to meet you and know your stories that brought you to our church. Anyone is welcome to start the program, which will be tailored for individuals who have not been baptized, those who have been baptized in other Christian traditions, and those who have received their First Communion in the Catholic Church.

The parish will provide access to a video program, so candidates may begin whenever the Holy Spirit calls them. There will also be individual or group meetings with a parish catechist to encourage candidates on their journey.

Welcome home!
