The Search Series

“The Search” Series Overview

Our Lady of Refuge parish is hosting this high quality faith growth opportunity. “The Search” series consists of a set of videos from Formed.org, along with group discussions, fellowship, and prayer.

As it says on the Formed website: If your faith is already solid, “The Search” will help you to deepen it. If you’re feeling unsure, it’s for you too. If you’re worried about your kids or grandkids, it’s a great series for you to share with them — by bringing them along. “The Search” features scientists, artists, philosophers, and other people from all walks of life proclaiming how their searches for meaning in life led them to Jesus and the Gospel. “The Search” videos are lead by Chris Stefanick, a well known speaker and developer of Catholic young adult focused videos.

This series will take place via Zoom because of the recent high numbers of Covid-19 cases in our state. If the situation changes, we may provide an on site option but we will support Zoom based participation throughout the entire program. Please register by January 19th, so that we can order a workbook for you.

A Typical Search Session

Part 1: Welcome and introduction, with a few minutes for an opening prayer.

Part 2: We will watch a video. Each video in the series is about 30 minutes long. The videos are hosted by Chris Stefanick, including interviews and segments from several others. All of the videos are available on Formed.org, so if you miss a session or want to review any part of the video, you can easily view it on your own.

Part 3: A time for small group discussion follows, where everyone is welcome to contribute opinions and ask questions. The emphasis is upon exploration and discovery in a relaxed and nonjudgmental environment. Participants will be split into small groups (break out sessions) and will usually stay in the same small group for the entire series so they will get to know one another, continue discussions and deepen friendships. Each small group will have a discussion leader to help keep the discussions positive and on topic.

Part 4: The session ends with the entire group gathering for a brief conclusion, including some key highlights, logistics for future meetings, and a closing prayer.
